A great way to get a feel of Brisbane, Australia, is to have a ride on one of the city ferries (City Ferries and CityCat). Take a CityCat ride along the Brisbane River. From Brett's Wharf in the north east, past Sydney Street and Mowbray Park to Queensland University in the south west, you will be treated to subtropical blooms, private green lawns gracing the banks, numerous parks to explore and the business heart of Brisbane itself.
City Ferries offer a slower pace and more cross river stops. Together with the CityCat, they give access to most places along the river. Get your Brisbane ferry and CityCat timetable on board or from local newsagents and convenience stores. All ferry trips are part of Brisbane Translink: one ticket provides rides on all buses and trains as well. Just ask for a daily Zone two ticket on board or from newsagents and convenience stores.
Grab a Brisbane map from your hotel or the Visitor Information Centre and explore Brisbane by ferry. With the beautiful Brisbane weather, you could take your bike on board the CityCat and stop off at the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens.
Visit South Bank, where you'll be entertained by buskers and free entertainment, or maybe have a swim. Take the children to New Farm Park with its great playground and many beautiful blooms for the adults. Look out for the cliff climbers at Kangaroo Point near the Story Bridge and the sea eagles which can be spotted along the Brisbane River.
