With the Brisbane City Council's new public transport system, it is easy getting around the city and suburbs of Brisbane. For the price of one daily fare, you can ride the buses, trains and ferries to take you to numerous activities and sightseeing adventures.
Brisbane has many parking stations in the city if you are traveling in by car. Parking is also available at the train stations and you can leave your car there while you visit the city. Or, if you prefer, you can take a bus into the city. Most suburbs have a good bus service.
A look at a Brisbane map will show the Myer centre, a major shopping precinct, where there is a bus interchange. From here, buses travel to all suburbs and the many attractions Brisbane has to offer.
If you are fortunate to be staying near the Brisbane River, then the ferries and City Cat are a quick, efficient and fun way to travel and see the city sights.
While on the City Cat, look out for the abseiling at the Kangaroo Point cliffs; stop off at New Farm Park or catch the entertainment at South Bank where you can have a swim at a sandy beach in the middle of Brisbane city. Keep your ticket and use it at night to get to your dinner reservation and then to access the night life of theatre, movies, casino and intimate clubs and bars.
From the modern Brisbane airport, take the Airtrain or a taxi to the city where you will find most of the major hotels, including the Hilton, Marriott and Sofitel. Check with Transinfo for all timetables and Brisbane transport maps.
From Central Station on Ann Street, catch a Brisbane train to the fabulous, world renowned beaches at the Gold Coast. Stop for a day at Warner Brothers Movie World to enjoy all your favourite classics. Another Gold Coast theme park accessed by rail is Dreamworld, where you will be thrilled by some of the world's wildest rides or spend a day at Australia's newest water park, White Water World with its extreme waterslides.
While at the Gold Coast, an hour's train ride from Brisbane, visit Sea World and swim with the dolphins.
For a trip to the north of Brisbane, a train journey from Central Station to Beerwah will find you at Australia Zoo, most famous for their crocodile show and environmental endeavours.
To catch some of the world's best entertainers, the train will drop you at Boondall Station and from there it is a short walk to Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Check online for up-to-date information.
You can catch a ferry to South Bank where you can visit the Brisbane Cultural Centre, with the Lyric Theatre, the Brisbane Art Gallery, Museum, The Gallery of Modern Art and the State Library.
Brisbane weather is perfect most days of the year! Grab a Brisbane map from the Information Centre and a Brisbane guide as to what is happening during your stay. Come and explore this vibrant city and its surroundings at your leisure.
